The NCSHRM Legislative Conference will be Monday, May 11 – Tuesday, May 12, 2020.

Registration is limited to 100- Reserve your spot today!

Agenda and speakers will be added/updated as they are finalized.

Starting the morning of May 11, attendees will meet at Hunt Library on NC State University's campus for a day of educational sessions on policy, advocacy, and current legislation.

Attendees will participate in the following sessions:

  • General Assembly member update

  • Advocacy update from SHRM

  • Legal update

  • How to advocate with legislators

  • Policy items to be discussed with legislators on Tuesday

We are excited to announce Emily Dickens, Head of SHRM Governmental Affairs, Corporate Secretary, and Chief of Staff; and Jon Hardister, NC House Majority WHIP as our first two speakers.

Tuesday morning, May 12, we will meet back at Hunt Library and transportation will be provided to the North Carolina General Assembly, where we will meet with legislators from our respective districts and share our human resources talking points.  SHRM will be helping us set appointments with our representatives for that day.

Do you have questions about the event or wish to pass along issues or concerns (or messages of appreciation) to our elected officials on behalf of our profession?  If so, please contact Melissa Mills, NCSHRM Governmental Affairs, at

This is an opportunity for you to directly participate in the democratic process on behalf of the human resources industry in North Carolina.  Our legislators are not human resource professionals and they value our input and perspectives on issues which impact the citizens and businesses they represent.  If you have participated in SHRM’s Capitol Hill visits, you know that advocacy is enjoyable and worthwhile.

This Legislative Conference has the added benefits of being not only free of charge but also offers SHRM and HRCI credit for all attendees!  Don’t miss out on this opportunity -- plan to join us and register today!
