Speaker: Laura Burton, Smith Moore Leatherwood LLP

Employers of all sizes area suffering the consequences of simple mistakes made in employment verification and other immigration requirements.  Too often, HR managers and other professionals assume that I-9 compliance practices are in order when, in fact, they are not, leaving the company and individuals open to fines, lawsuits, and even jail time.  Immigration enforcement is increasing and ICE is on the audit warpath, ready to issue large fines for employers not in compliance with immigration requirements.  In this interactive session, find answers to your questions about employment eligibility verification and immigration issues that affect HR professionals.

In this session, you will learn about:

  • The New I-9 Form
  • Verification and Compliance
  • Best Practice Tips for New Hires and Current Employees
  • E-Verify
  • ICE Raids and Audits
